Last updated September 24, 2026. Manufacturer-spec comparison only—not a Boom lab test. Specs below are taken from EcoFlow’s published product pages. Real runtime depends on load, temperature, and inverter losses.
If you are shopping EcoFlow’s compact RIVER against the mid-size DELTA 2, you are really choosing between a grab-and-go day pack and a weekend / short-outage box. Off Grid Power Boom keeps this to published watt-hours and watts—no invented ranks.
Quick decision
- Pick RIVER when weight (~11 lb class) and phone/laptop/camera duty matter more than running a microwave.
- Pick DELTA 2 when you need ~1 kWh, ~1,800 W continuous AC, LiFePO₄ cycle life, and room to expand with an EcoFlow extra battery.

Decision table (manufacturer-stated)
| Spec | EcoFlow RIVER | EcoFlow DELTA 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 288 Wh | 1,024 Wh |
| Continuous AC | 600 W | 1,800 W |
| Boost / surge (maker) | X-Boost up to 1,200 W (EcoFlow also cites higher X-Boost figures on some regional pages—use the label on your unit) | Surge 2,700 W; X-Boost for higher loads (EcoFlow US cites no-overload support into ~2,200 W class loads) |
| Battery chemistry | Older RIVER line (not marketed as LFP on the current US RIVER page) | LiFePO₄ / LFP; EcoFlow cites 3,000+ cycles to 80%+ |
| AC charge claim | 0–80% in under 1 hour (X-Stream) | 0–80% in ~50 minutes (X-Stream) |
| Solar input (maker) | Up to two ~110 W panels class (EcoFlow cites full charge under ~2.6 hours in ideal conditions) | Up to ~500 W solar input on current US materials (Pro-era copy sometimes said 400 W—use the live EcoFlow sheet) |
| Expandable | Extra battery option (double capacity per EcoFlow) | Yes — DELTA 2 / DELTA Max extra battery paths to ~2–3 kWh class |
| Weight (maker) | ~11 lb | ~27 lb / 12 kg |

Who should buy / who should skip
Buy RIVER if…
- You hike, fly, or want something that lives in a car trunk without feeling like a toolbox.
- Loads stay under ~600 W continuous (phones, laptops, small fans, CPAP-class devices only after you check your machine’s watts—see CPAP backup battery).
Skip RIVER if…
- You want fridge + microwave + space heater style home backup. 288 Wh will not carry that honestly.
- You specifically want LFP cycle marketing—shop RIVER 2 / newer EcoFlow LFP SKUs instead (see EcoFlow alternatives).
Buy DELTA 2 if…
- Arizona summer outages or RV nights need ~1 kWh and 1,800 W headroom.
- You may add an extra battery later instead of buying a second station.
Skip DELTA 2 if…
- You refuse to carry ~27 lb. RIVER (or a RIVER 2-class unit) is the better match.
Failure modes (practical)
- Overload trips: continuous AC is the hard ceiling. Surge/X-Boost is not a free pass for motors with unknown start current.
- Heat: charging and high AC loads in a hot garage cut effective capacity—Arizona users should shade the unit and keep vents clear.
- Solar math: published “hours” assume ideal irradiance. Desert dust and panel angle cut input hard.
