US investing $71m to advance US solar manufacturing and development
The US Department of Energy is preparing to spend $71MM on R&D projects. This is an effort to give a boost to domestic solar energy manufacturers across the US supply chain. This investment initiative will include $44MM towards “thin-film photovoltaics.”
US firm, First Solar Inc. now the world’s most valuable solar company
First Solar Inc. has become the world’s most valuable solar manufacturer, this marks the the first time since 2018 that the designation was not held by a Chinese company. As a result of price wars and the advancement of trade barriers erected by Washington DC have hit Chinese manufacturing companies hard, accordingly the landscape is shifting.
Ultra-fast charging G-Current battery: charging 80% in just 9.8 minutes
Gotion High-Tech’s G-Current battery utilizes 5C super-fast charging technology. According the the press release: “80% energy replenishment with 9.8 minutes of charging and 90% energy replenishment with 15 minutes of charging. This solution can be applied to the entire range of battery applications, including BEVs or hybrid vehicle, covering LFP, LMFP, and NCM chemistry systems. At the conference, Mr. Cao Yong, Vice President of the Engineering R&D Institute of Gotion High-tech, stated that the release of G-Current batteries signifies mass production.”
