EcoFlow River 2 Series: River 2 Vs River 2 Max Vs River 2 Pro – The Next-Gen River Series with LFP Batteries

EcoFlow has launched the next-gen line of its much-touted River compact solar power stations. Similar to the recent Delta 2 upgrade, the new River 2 series is carrying long-life and ultra-safe LiFePO4 battery chemistry at the core along with a handful of other impressive features.

EcoFlow unveiled the new River series on October 25, 2022. The new River line appears in three variants; River 2, River 2 Max, and River 2 Pro. They are respectively 256Wh, 512Wh, and 768Wh compact power stations and will turn out to be cool alternatives to Bluetti EB3A, EB55, and EB70S.

EcoFlow River 2 Pro Release and Price Update: EcoFlow started selling its much-awaited River 2 Pro on April 3, 2023. The retail price of the flagship model of the series is $599, and we are looking for the release-date price discounts to update here. 

The River 2 Pro is a 768Wh LFP power station with an output of 800 watts.

With a solar input of 220 watts and an AC input of 940 watts, it is indeed one of the coolest LFP power stations under 1000Wh capacity. Check out the River 2 Pro here.

The quick charging rate is one of the spotlighted features of the River 2 series. You will be able to charge the River from zero to 100% in just 60 minutes. That is five times faster than other compact solar power stations and 38% faster than the old generation of the River, says EcoFlow.

The River 2 Pro will require 70 minutes for a full charge.

EcoFlow River 2 Price Update: The River 2 will hit the market on Oct. 25, 2022, at $US239/$CA299, and the River 2 Max will carry a price of $US469 / $CA599. The top-tier River 2 Pro will be on sale on another date. The River 2 line-up will be available in Europe from November 9, 2022, by the way.

As stated above, the long-life and safer LFP battery is another major attraction of the new River series. The battery has a charging cycle of up to 3000 times, which is pretty much for the power stations to get a life of 10 years even with everyday use.

The River 2 is the entry-level variant of the new River 2 series.

It is a 256Wh/300W power station with an AC input of 360 watts and solar input of 110 watts. You will be able to fully charge it from an AC input in just 60 minutes.

The River 2 features a single 300W AC socket (600W surge), dual USB-A ports, a single USB-C socket, and a carport. It has a size of 9.6 x 8.5 x 5.7 inches and it has a weight of 7.7 lbs.

The River 2 Max is the next model, which is a 215Wh LFP power station with a 500W inverter and a surge power of 1000 watts. The device can be charged from an AC socket at a rate of 660 watts and a solar source at 220 watts.

It has a size of 10.6 x 10.2 x 7.7 inches and a weight of 13.2 lbs and it features two AC sockets, three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and a car charger.

Finally, there is River 2 Pro, the top-end variant of the series. it is a 768Wh/800W power station with a surge of 1600 watts. It has an AC input of 940 watts and it will take 70 minutes for a full charge.

The solar input of River 2 Pro is 220 watts and it accommodates three AC sockets, as many USB-A ports, one USB-C, and a carport each. It has a size of 10.6 x 10.2 x 8.9 inches and a weight of 17.2 lbs.

All the models in the lineup feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity.

EcoFlow River 2 Vs River Original

EcoFlow has been selling the first-generation River lineup in multiple models.

Starting with the 210Wh entry-level River Mini to the 720Wh/1440Wh scalable top-ender River Pro, the River series has been there in four options.

The 288Wh/576Wh expandable River is the original variant, while River Max is the expanded version of the original, which is the 576Wh unit bundled with the smart River expansion module.

As you know, the original River series has been carrying lithium batteries, while the upgraded generation gets LFP battery cells at the core. Apart from that, faster charging and several aesthetic features will make the new-gen River series rather attractive and appealing for outdoor applications.
